Proposal: Enable Scribunto[]

Having Scribunto (and CodeEditor) installed on this wiki has several good effects:

  • We can autogenerate pages in some way
  • Data can be pulled from central places and be used all through the wiki
    • This can be used to gather data like we see it on Template:WeaponTable more elegant and much easier changeable

As we would need to contact our wiki manager, Kittymmeow, and this is a big change that affects the future organization of the wiki, I would like to hear what the other users think of this here. -- Tobi_406 (Talk) 21:35, 7 September 2019 (UTC)

I think the wiki would benefit, in having Scribunto installed, to make some work easier. Tobi_406 already mentioned some examples.
Because of, it makes some work easier like editing the WeaponTable or TalentTable Templates, or creating the Voice Pack-Pages, I agree with Tobi and hope Scribunto gets enabled. Nilo1011 (talk) 14:09, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
If your goal is to be able to create centralized data for autogenerating pages, I might suggest Cargo instead of (or at least in addition to) Scribunto. Scribunto is useful for generating pages, but on a lot of wikis that use it, Cargo is used to actually store and deliver the data. --Kittymmeow (talk) 18:55, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
I totally forgot about Cargo. It's probably the best option to store the data in the end. Even though I can't gurantee that we don't use Modules to store data sometimes, but this should be kept at a minimum (data in Cargo can be easier read by both, the api and normal wikitext). Scribunto looks to me like a good option to create these things from Cargo tables, as you said. -- Tobi_406 (Talk) 21:00, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
I have installed both Scribunto and Cargo, as well as Code Editor and Syntaxhighlight for convenience. Intro to Scribunto, Lua reference manual for Scribunto, intro to Cargo, full Cargo docs. Please let me know if you have any questions. --Kittymmeow (talk) 12:12, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
Thank you very much! This will defenitly bring some improvements to the wiki! -- Tobi_406 (Talk) 12:21, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
I sadly just encountered one problem: One Module pages (I created Module:GenerateVoiceLines) CodeEditor doesn't seems to be active, altough it is activated on Special:Version. Do I have done something wrong, or is this a problem that you can fix? -- Tobi_406 (Talk) 13:15, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
pcj fixed it, still, thank you very much :) -- Tobi_406 (Talk) 15:58, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
